To resolve the problem of low utilization and grade of mineral, our company began to research low temperature superconducting magnetic separator of zero volatilization teamed with Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of High Energy (IHEP) in October, 2010. In superconducting state, the resistance of superconducting coil is zero, according to the specialty, great induced currents and magnetic density will be produced when high current flows through superconducting coil. Thus low magnetic mineral and harmful metal respectively in metal mines and non-metallic mines will be separated by giant magnetic density. Because the resistance of superconducting coil is zero, the superconducting magnetic separator is less energy consumption, and continues to work without demagnetization. The energy consumption is only 10% of the ordinary magnetic equipment and productivity is more than 10 times of ordinary magnetic equipment. The low temperature superconducting magnetic separator has great advantages in dealing iron tailings, low magnetic metal and in separating ferric oxide and low magnetic materials of non-metallic metal in kaolin, potassium albite feldspar and high-purity quartz, the low temperature superconducting magnetic separator, produce great benefits for economy and society.
The product, by now, is only produced in a few developed countries like America. Its expensive price(5T/20K/500, about 20 million RMB/set), maintenance cost and inconvenient service limit its application in China. Superconducting magnetic separator of zero volatilization (5.5T /300), produced by Weifang Xinli Superconducting Technology Co.,Ltd. passed the technical appraisement of Shandong Science and Technology Agency on June, 30, 2012, reached the international level. On December, 8, 2013, the first set 5.5T low temperature superconducting separator completed installation and commission in Fujian Province and put into production.
